The Wests Tigers have added another promising young talent to their roster, announcing the signing of towering Sydney Roosters forward Ethan Roberts on a two-year deal beginning in 2026.
Roberts, 20, has been one of the Roosters’ most highly rated emerging forwards, progressing through every level of their junior system — from Harold Matthews Cup through to NSW Cup. Known for his size, athleticism, and versatility, Roberts is capable of playing both on the edge and in the middle, giving the Tigers a valuable long-term option in their pack.
The deal will see Roberts join the Tigers on a development contract in 2026, before stepping into the club’s Top 30 squad in 2027.
“Ethan is a player we’ve had our eye on for some time,” said Tigers General Manager of Football, Shane Richardson. “He’s a hard worker with a great attitude, and we believe he’ll develop into a powerful forward under our system.”
Standing out in the Roosters’ NSW Cup side this season, Roberts has impressed with his defensive work rate and strong carries through the middle third of the field. His move to the Tigers reflects the club’s continued investment in young, homegrown forwards as they look to rebuild for future success.
Wests Tigers head coach Benji Marshall has been vocal about building a culture around youth and development, and Roberts fits that mould perfectly. His arrival follows several other key signings aimed at strengthening the club’s forward depth and long-term potential.
“Ethan’s got all the tools — size, skill, and hunger,” Marshall said. “We’re excited to help him reach his potential and see him grow into a first-grade player over the next few seasons.”
Roberts will link up with the Tigers’ pre-season squad ahead of the 2026 campaign.
