Sydney Roosters Finally Part Ways With $2.1 Million Recruit

The Sydney Roosters have officially confirmed the departure of their $2.1 million recruit, marking the end of one of the most talked-about signings in recent club history.

Official Confirmation

In a statement released on Monday, the Roosters announced that the player will leave the club at the end of the 2025 NRL season, following internal discussions and a mutual agreement between both parties.

Why the Sydney Roosters a legitimate NRL threat in 2025

The club thanked the player for his contribution, noting that he had made a strong impact both on and off the field since joining the Tricolours.

“We’ve appreciated everything he’s brought to the club — his professionalism, commitment, and work ethic,” head coach Trent Robinson said. “We wish him nothing but success for the next stage of his career.”

A High-Value Signing That Divided Opinion

The player joined the Roosters on a multi-year deal reportedly worth $2.1 million, one of the largest individual contracts in the club’s history. His signing drew major attention at the time, reflecting the club’s willingness to invest heavily in elite young talent.

While his tenure featured moments of brilliance, it was also marked by inconsistency and injury setbacks that limited his overall impact on the field.

Despite this, the Roosters maintained their faith in the player throughout his contract, praising his attitude and influence around the squad.

Major Salary Cap Implications

The player’s exit will free up significant salary cap space ahead of the 2026 season — giving the Roosters flexibility to pursue new signings in key positions.

Club officials indicated that the move was part of a broader strategic plan to reshape the roster and build a more balanced squad for the years ahead.

“This decision is about long-term planning,” a Roosters spokesperson said. “We’re ensuring we’re in the best position possible to compete at the top for years to come.”

Looking Ahead

The Roosters are expected to make several key recruitment announcements before the November 1 open market period, as they look to strengthen depth across multiple areas.

With strong junior talent coming through their development system and a clear vision for the future, the club remains confident that this transition will set them up for sustained success.
