Sydney Roosters Sign 25-Year Deal to Play at $730 Million Allianz Stadium

The Sydney Roosters have officially signed a 25-year agreement to play all home games at the state-of-the-art Allianz Stadium in Moore Park — securing their long-term future at one of Australia’s premier sporting venues.

The deal, reportedly valued at $730 million, follows confirmation from the New South Wales Government that the redevelopment of the iconic Sydney Football Stadium would go ahead after months of political debate and uncertainty surrounding its future.

Commitment to Sydney’s Sporting Heart

Under the new arrangement, the Roosters will call Allianz Stadium home until at least 2048, sharing the venue with other major tenants such as the NSW Waratahs and Sydney FC.

Club chairman Nick Politis hailed the deal as a “historic moment” for the foundation club, emphasizing the Roosters’ deep connection to Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

“This stadium has always been home for us — it’s where our fans belong,” Politis said. “The partnership ensures the Roosters remain at the heart of Sydney’s sporting culture for generations to come.”

A World-Class Facility

The new Allianz Stadium, completed in 2022, was constructed on the site of the original Sydney Football Stadium.
The $730 million redevelopment features:

  • A 45,000-seat capacity with steep grandstands for an immersive viewing experience.
  • Cutting-edge LED lighting and sound technology.
  • Expanded food, hospitality, and fan engagement zones.
  • Environmentally sustainable design elements, including water recycling and solar energy systems.

The venue is now one of the most advanced in the southern hemisphere and serves as a key component of Sydney’s vision to become a global sports and entertainment hub.

Political Green Light

The project’s future was secured following the recent NSW state election, with the incoming government confirming its commitment to completing the rebuild. Earlier uncertainty had surrounded the stadium due to funding debates and environmental concerns, but the decision has now locked in long-term security for the Roosters and other tenants.

NSW Premier Chris Minns praised the outcome, saying the stadium would benefit both the sporting community and the state’s economy:

“This project isn’t just about football — it’s about jobs, tourism, and ensuring Sydney remains the sporting capital of Australia.”

A Home for a New Era

For the Roosters, who boast one of the most passionate supporter bases in rugby league, the new Allianz Stadium represents more than just a venue — it’s a return to their spiritual home.

Head coach Trent Robinson said the team was excited about the future:

“It’s not just a stadium; it’s our fortress. The design, the crowd proximity, the atmosphere — everything about it lifts the players and the fans alike.”

Summary:

  • Sydney Roosters sign 25-year deal to play at Allianz Stadium.
  • $730 million venue now central to Sydney’s sporting infrastructure.
  • Stadium future secured after NSW election.
  • Roosters to remain in Moore Park until 2048.
