The Penrith Panthers have long been praised for their strong junior development system, which has produced some of the NRL’s top talent in recent years. However, that same success has now become a challenge.
While Penrith continues to bring through talented young players, rival clubs are increasingly targeting those juniors and fringe first-grade players. With several stars already leaving in recent seasons, the constant poaching is starting to take a toll on the club’s overall depth.
The Panthers’ ability to stay at the top has relied heavily on their junior base, but with more competition for those rising stars, maintaining their dominance in the NRL may become harder in the seasons ahead.
