Parramatta Eels fans could be preparing to farewell one of their most experienced campaigners, after a club veteran hinted that retirement may be looming at the end of the season.
Hint at the end
Speaking after training this week, the long-serving Eel admitted that while no final decision has been made, stepping away from the game is “potentially” on the cards. The veteran, who has been a fixture in the blue and gold for more than a decade, said the decision will depend on how his body feels during the back end of the year.

“I’m just taking things week by week at the moment,” he said. “I’ve loved my time here, but I know I’m closer to the end than the beginning. Retirement is potentially something I’ll need to think seriously about once the season finishes.”
Impact on the Eels
The prospect of losing such a senior figure is significant for Parramatta. Beyond his on-field contributions, the veteran has been a leader within the squad, guiding younger players and embodying the work ethic the Eels pride themselves on.
Head coach Jason Ryles acknowledged the importance of his experience but insisted no pressure would be placed on the player to make a rushed call. “He’s earned the right to decide on his own terms,” Ryles said. “Whatever he chooses, he’ll always be a huge part of this club.”
A decorated career
Over his long career, the Eels stalwart has not only racked up hundreds of NRL appearances but also built a reputation as one of the competition’s most reliable and consistent performers. Known for his toughness and professionalism, he has been a mainstay through highs and lows, including grand final heartbreak and rebuilding seasons.
What’s next
For now, the veteran remains focused on helping Parramatta push for finals football. But with the end of the season fast approaching, speculation will continue to grow around whether fans have seen him in the blue and gold for the last time.
Should he retire, it would mark the end of a remarkable chapter in Eels history—one that has left a lasting impact on teammates, coaches, and supporters alike.
