In a major coup for the Parramatta Eels, the club have secured the signature of Penrith Panthers prospect Isaiah Iongi on a multi‑year contract, amid growing interest from rival NRL clubs. The 21‑year‑old fullback, widely regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in the game, will join the Eels for the 2025 season.
General Manager of Football Mark O’Neill said the signing is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the club’s spine and invest in long-term success.
“Isaiah brings speed, composure, and a hunger to compete — qualities that align with where we’re heading under Jason Ryles,” O’Neill said. “We’re excited about what he can bring to our squad.”
The move follows the departure of emerging talent Blaize Talagi to Penrith, and positions Iongi as a key figure in the Eels’ future plans at fullback.
While financial terms remain confidential, sources suggest the Eels outbid multiple clubs to secure the young star, offering not only a competitive deal but a clear pathway to consistent first-grade play.
The signing is seen as a statement of intent from Parramatta — a club focused not just on short-term results but building a premiership-contending roster for years to come.
