In a move no one saw coming, the Brisbane Broncos have officially announced that club legend Darren Lockyer will take over as head coach for the 2026 NRL season.
The bombshell was dropped during a surprise press conference at Suncorp Stadium this morning, where club executives revealed that Lockyer—who retired from playing in 2011 and has since served in off-field roles—will replace current head coach Kevin Walters at the end of the 2025 season.
