Jensen Signs Two-Year Extension

Four years ago, Broncos’ prop Corey Jensen found himself at a “career crossroads,” with 58 NRL games under his belt but no contract for the upcoming season.

So, when an opportunity arose with the Broncos, he moved more than a thousand kilometres away from his wife, family and friends in Townsville to join the Brisbane based Club.

What was a daunting sacrifice at the time, proved to be a career defining move for Jensen who has notched up almost 90-games with the Broncos.

The now 31-year-old has signed a contract extension with the Club and will stay on for another two-seasons.

He said he was excited to lock-in his future with the Broncos.

“Ever since I came here, the Club took me on and really made me feel welcome,” he said.

What we’re doing under Madge, I feel we’re really building into the future and I just want to be part of that.

The ever-reliable middle forward has featured consistently for the Broncos across the past three-seasons and was given the Kevin Walters award for ‘most consistent’ in 2024.

This year, Jensen has averaged just under 100 run-metres per game and has made 552 tackles at 94 per cent efficiency.

But it was his hard-work ethic which most impressed Broncos General Manager of Football Operations, Troy Thomson.

Corey is the ultimate professional and his attention to detail in everything he does is outstanding.

“He is a valued leader in our group and sets an example for others to follow both on and off the field.

“We’re really happy to see him stay with the Club.”

Jensen admits he has come a long way from the person he was when he moved to Brisbane.

While he is one of the Club’s more experienced forwards with 143 games of NRL, he said he has more growing to do.

I’ve learned a lot about myself and I’m enjoying my footy and the Club makes it easier, so that’s why I want to say.

“I’m still learning a lot off Payne and Patty too, so I’m still enjoying my footy and I want to continue doing that.

“I think as an older head now, I can help the younger guys out as much as I can and try and nurture them through.”
