The Parramatta Eels are preparing for major changes as they look ahead to the 2026 NRL season. The club’s head coach has confirmed several players will be leaving, and also shared updates on current injuries within the squad.

Players Leaving in 2026

Dylan Brown
Brown has signed a 10-year deal worth $13 million with the Newcastle Knights. He will stay with the Eels for the 2025 season before making the move in 2026.

Shaun Lane
Lane has retired from playing and will now work with the Eels in a new off-field role focusing on mental health and player wellbeing.

Bailey Simonsson
Simonsson is currently injured and has requested a release from the club. He is expected to leave before the 2026 season.

Blaize Talagi (Not confirmed)
Talagi rejected a contract extension and may be joining another club soon.

Clint Gutherson (Rumored)
There is speculation that Gutherson could be leaving the club before or during the 2026 season, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Other Possible Exits
Some players, like Mitchell Moses and Will Penisini, have contract clauses that give them the option to leave by the end of 2025.

Injury Update

Several key players are also out due to injury:

Bailey Simonsson – Foot injury, out for 8–10 weeks

Sam Tuivaiti – Ankle and knee injuries, out for the season

Arthur Miller-Stephen – Knee injury, out for the season

Luca Moretti – Torn calf, out for the rest of the season

Sean Russell – Hand injury, expected back soon

Kitione Kautoga – Ankle injury, likely to return by Round 27

Looking Ahead

The Eels will face a big challenge in rebuilding their squad after the 2025 season. With a mix of player departures and ongoing injuries, the club will need to focus on developing young talent and bringing in new signings to stay competitive in 2026.
