In a major shake-up ahead of the 2026 NRL season, Spencer Leniu has confirmed that he is officially leaving the Penrith Panthers to join the Sydney Roosters on a three-year deal worth a reported $1.8 million.
Speaking out today, Leniu said:
> “It’s been an amazing journey with the Panthers. I’ve grown so much as a player and person here. But I feel it’s time for a new challenge, and I’m excited for what lies ahead with the Roosters.”
The powerhouse forward has been a key part of Penrith’s recent dominance, playing a major role off the bench in multiple premiership wins. His move to the Roosters adds serious depth to their forward pack and is seen as one of the biggest trades of the year.
Panthers fans will be sad to see him go, but club officials have thanked Leniu for his contributions and wished him the best for the next chapter of his career.
His departure also frees up salary cap space for Penrith, who are currently negotiating long-term extensions with other key players.
Stay tuned for more updates as the Panthers look to rebuild and the Roosters prepare to unleash their new star in 2026.
