South Sydney are unlikely to have superstar fullback Latrell Mitchell for their grudge match against the Sydney Roosters due to back and neck injuries, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.
The unavailability of Mitchell would be of huge help to the Roosters, who are placed eighth with one round remaining in the regular season but no certainties to make the finals.
Mitchell, who has only played one of the Rabbitohs’ past seven games, will need to prove his fitness on Tuesday if he is to be named in the club’s squad, which will be released at 4pm on Tuesday.
It was expected that the NSW Blues and Australian Test superstar would return for the final game of the regular season, but the Herald has revealed he’s got a neck injury that’s causing issues with his back.
As it stands, the Roosters are eighth on the ladder with 30 points and a differential of 102. The Dolphins are ninth with 28 points and a differential of 87, while the Sea Eagles, who will need a miracle to play finals, are 10th with 28 points and a differential of 20.
Here’s all the early mail for round 27.
