Brisbane Broncos fans have reason to celebrate today, with the club announcing a blockbuster five-year contract extension for fullback Reece Walsh.
The deal will keep the 22-year-old sensation at Red Hill until the end of the 2030 NRL season. It’s a major statement of intent from the Broncos, who are looking to build a long-term premiership-contending squad around their young superstar.
Walsh has quickly become a fan favourite since returning to Brisbane in 2023, with his explosive speed, slick ball-handling and game-breaking ability making him one of the most exciting players in the NRL.
Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy said the club was thrilled to secure Walsh’s future.
> “Reece is not only a phenomenal player, but he represents everything we want this club to be about — passion, energy, and belief,” Donaghy said. “We know how much he means to our members and fans, and this deal shows our commitment to building something special.”
Walsh also expressed his excitement about staying in Brisbane.
> “This club means everything to me. I’ve grown so much here, on and off the field,” he said. “I want to win a premiership in Brisbane — and now I’ve got the time to do it.”
The Broncos are currently sitting in the top four and shaping as serious contenders for the 2025 title. With Walsh now locked in long-term, fans are daring to dream that the club’s next golden era is just beginning.
