Brisbane Broncos Sign Prime Darren Lockyer in $500 Million Time-Travel Deal – NRL Approves ‘Legend Return’ Rule

In what fans are calling the most jaw-dropping move in rugby league history, the Brisbane Broncos have reportedly spent $500 million to bring back club legend Darren Lockyer — not out of retirement, but directly from his prime years via time travel.

Yes, you read that right. The Broncos, desperate for a premiership push, have allegedly partnered with a shadowy tech firm to pull off the impossible: opening a time portal to 2006 and retrieving Lockyer in peak condition.

“We knew we needed a game-changer, and Locky is that guy — always has been,” said coach Kevin Walters, struggling to contain his excitement. “It cost a bit more than we budgeted… but hey, can you really put a price on greatness?”

Apparently, you can: $500 million, including portal maintenance, interdimensional travel insurance, and an unlimited supply of zinc for Lockyer’s iconic on-field look.

The NRL, initially skeptical, has approved the move under a hastily drafted new policy called the ‘Legend Return Rule’, which allows each team a one-time-only return of a past player — if, and only if, they can prove time travel is involved.

Lockyer reported to training in full Broncos kit, fit, fast, and rocking a 2006-era mullet. Fans gathered outside the facility, chanting “Bring back Alfie next!” and waving signs that read “Time Travel = Titles.”

“I’m stoked to be back,” Lockyer told reporters. “Time travel’s a bit dizzying, but the boys look sharp and I’m ready to chase another ring.”

Bookmakers have now installed the Broncos as runaway premiership favorites, with some rival clubs reportedly looking into black hole funding of their own.

As one fan put it: “We didn’t just bring back Lockyer. We brought back hope.”
