Brendan Rodgers decides Celtic next three transfers after Balikwisha deal finally agreed

Celtic are finally set to seal a move for Royal Antwerp winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha after their long-running pursuit.

But with the £4.5million move on the brink, the deals are unlikely to stop there with a frantic end to the window expected for the Hoops.

Balikwisha has missed Antwerp’s clash with Mechelen on Sunday as they inched closer to a deal – but Brendan Rodgers won’t be happy with just the one winger.

Nicolas Kuhn joined Como in a £17.2million deal – and with Jota sidelined until next year a second wide man is high up on the shopping list.

Feyenoord forward Calvin Stengs is on the agenda having dropped out of the first-team picture since the summer arrival of Robin van Persie.

The 26-year-old has declared to potential suitors he is fit after an injury hampered campaign last term,

RTV Rijnmond report that the Dutch giants are “willing to work” with Celtic over a package for the winger with the club desperate to offload his “multi-million dollar salary”.

Boss Robin van Persie has conceded players will have to be moved on before the window closes, telling media in the Netherlands: “There is a number of players we are focussed on moving on; that’s exactly what we’re going to do.

“This applies to both defence and attack. We’re very clear about those points and are really taking our time.”

The search continues for a new left-back despite Hayato Inamura emerging as cover for Kieran Tierney – making his first start in the win over Livingston.

Celtic are aiming to sign Marcelo Saracchi from Boca Juniors with reports in Argentina stating that a loan offer with option-to-buy is being negotiated.

TyC Sports report that the Uruguayan international believes a move to Glasgow’s east end is “his best option” and his inner circle have told Boca he wants to make the switch.

Djurgarden wonderkid Keita Kosugi has also been on the Parkhead radar throughout the summer. However, Danish outlet Bollsvenskan report that a massive £11million price tag has been placed on the 19-year-old left-back with the clock ticking.

While Shin Yamada and Callum Osmand have come in as a striking options this summer, Rodgers’ first-choice remains Adam Idah despite a difficult start to the campaign for the Ireland international.

A striker is still on the shopping list and Rodgers has refused to rule out a reunion with Jamie Vardy having managed the free agent during his time at Leicester City – with reports suggesting the 38-year-old is keen on the move.

Former Motherwell striker Don Goodman has told Vardy that a move to the Premiership would be perfect, stating to FLW: “I do think he would be a good fit.

“He’s just a lethal finisher, and if you’re Celtic in the SPFL particularly, you mostly dominate games and create chances. You would back him to score a lot of goals at Celtic.”

The door is still open for Cluj striker Louis Munteanu remains open despite Celtic having a bid had been knocked back.

But the club appear to be sticking to their massive valuation – with Gazzetta reporting that Olympiacos have offered £4.3million for the forward, with Cluj demanding at least £10.5million for the 23-year-old.
