The Brisbane Broncos have officially signed star halfback Jesse Southwell on a three-year deal worth $1.2 million, making her one of the highest-paid players in NRLW history.
Southwell, 20, joins the Broncos from the Newcastle Knights and will wear the No. 7 jersey starting in the 2026 season.
> “I’m really excited for this next chapter,” Southwell said. “Brisbane has a strong culture and a great squad. I can’t wait to get started.”
Broncos coach Scott Prince said the club is building a long-term squad, and Southwell is a key part of that vision.
> “Jesse brings talent, leadership, and experience well beyond her age. She’s a game-changer,” Prince said.
The $1.2 million deal — averaging $400,000 per season — sets a new benchmark in NRLW player contracts, reflecting the growing professionalisation of the women’s game.
Southwell is expected to link up with the Broncos for pre-season in early 2026.
