David Fifita Set for Early Exit as Penrith Panthers Emerge as Frontrunners

The NRL transfer market has been shaken once again, with powerhouse forward David Fifita reportedly considering an early exit from his current deal.

In a twist that could reshape the competition, the Penrith Panthers have emerged as frontrunners to secure the superstar’s signature.

Fifita, widely regarded as one of the game’s most destructive edge forwards, has been the subject of mounting speculation in recent weeks. While his current club had expected him to see out his contract, whispers of dissatisfaction and the lure of a fresh challenge have placed his future firmly in the spotlight.

Sources close to the negotiations suggest the Panthers are leading the chase, with the three-time premiers eager to bolster their pack following key departures. The addition of Fifita would not only add strike power on the edge but also reinforce their already formidable forward rotation.

The 24-year-old has previously drawn interest from several Sydney-based clubs, but Penrith’s reputation for success and player development is believed to be a significant pull factor. Playing alongside stars such as Nathan Cleary, Isaah Yeo, and Dylan Edwards could prove irresistible for Fifita as he weighs up his next move.

A move to the Panthers would represent a massive coup for coach Ivan Cleary, who has shown a knack for getting the best out of big-name signings while maintaining Penrith’s culture-first approach.

For Fifita’s current club, the potential early exit would be a major blow, especially considering the investment and hopes placed on him. However, the growing sense is that the Queensland wrecking ball is ready for a new challenge one that could see him chase premiership glory in Penrith colours.

While nothing has been confirmed, the coming weeks will be crucial. If Penrith can finalise the deal, Fifita’s switch could go down as one of the most influential transfers in recent NRL history.
