Michigan lands commitment from 5-star running back Savion Hiter
The last week and a half have been a whirlwind for Michigan football fans.
First, the NCAA handed out its punishment regarding the Wolverines’ 2023 sign-stealing scandal. The program as a whole was able to avoid major punishment, earning a fine and a four-year probation period.

On Tuesday, Wolverine fans earned even more good news when Mineral (Va.) Louisa County five-star running back Savion Hiter announced his commitment to Michigan.
Hiter chose Michigan over Georgia, Ohio State and Tennessee.Recruiting outlet 247Sports Recruiting outlet 247Sports 5-11.5, 200-pounder as the No. 17 player in the class, the No. 1 running back, and No. 2 player out of Virginia. He is coming off a junior year where he led the Lions to a 9-3 record and a regional semifinal appearance. He carried the ball 156 times for 1,698 yards and 26 touchdowns.
Hiter was also a standout defensively, recording 56 tackles, seven sacks, an interception, and scoring three times on kickoffs.
Michigan’s offense setting up for a bright future
Last year the Wolverines landed their quarterback of the future in the class’ top prospect Bryce Underwood.
Now they have their running back of the future in Hiter.
Building around Underwood going forward has been the name of the game for Sherrone Moore and his staff since Underwood flipped from LSU earlier in the year.
They’ve now landed a trio of five-star prospects over the last two cycles with all three being on the offensive side of the ball. Offensive tackle Andrew Babalola joined Underwood in the 2025 class.
