In a move that has stunned fans and former teammates alike, Parramatta Eels star Mitchell Brown has announced his retirement from professional rugby league at just 30 years old.
Brown, who was named the Eels’ Player of the Year in 2022, confirmed the decision earlier this week, citing personal reasons and the toll the sport has taken on him both physically and mentally.
“While stepping away wasn’t easy, I knew deep down it was the right time,” Brown said. “The game has given me so much, but after a lot of reflection, I realised my passion was starting to shift. I want to leave the game on my own terms.”
