“We Need to Get On With It”: Ben Hunt Vows to Save Broncos

In a stirring address to the media, veteran playmaker Ben Hunt has extended a bold vow to help reins in the Brisbane Broncos’ faltering start and steer the club back into finals contention.

Hunt, fresh from answering the Broncos’ SOS call, spoke candidly about the urgency of the moment:

“It’s a tough period, but we need to get on with it,” he declared, embracing the pressure and responsibility that comes with his return.

A Return Driven by Redemption

Since rejoining the Broncos for the 2025 season on a two-year deal, Hunt has made clear that redemption is his central motive. Reflecting on the haunting memory of the 2015 grand final loss—a defeat marked by his infamous extra-time drop—Hunt is fired up to help deliver the club its first premiership since 2006.

Leadership Meets Experience

Teaming up with another seasoned veteran, Adam Reynolds, Hunt brings a wealth of experience and calm to the Broncos’ halves. Together, they form the oldest partnership in the NRL though Hunt dismisses suggestions that their age is a liability. Instead, he views their composure, leadership, and refined decision-making as vital ingredients to guide a youthful, electrifying team.

Championship Aspirations

With a revamped roster at his disposal, Hunt is bullish about the Broncos’ potential. Speaking after a dominant pre-season challenge win, he emphasized the roster’s balance and what he refers to as his “new toys”:

“I get the ball off ‘Reyno’ and give the ball out the back to Reece… and I have ‘Tones’ on one side.”
“To come back and finish my career here and go out with a premiership… it’s what dreams are made of.”

What’s Next for Hunt & the Broncos

  • The Broncos are leaning on Hunt’s composure and leadership to steady a season that has started unconvincingly.
  • Their strategy blends experience and youth hoping early momentum will carry them through mid-season tests like State of Origin, especially with key players potentially distracted or absent.
  • For Hunt, it’s more than a career homecoming it’s a mission to exorcise a decade-old grand final pain with the ultimate prize: a premiership.
