BREAKING: Broncos Cut Ties With All-Star Via Trade To Leeds Rhinos

In a significant move that has stunned both fans and pundits alike, the Brisbane Broncos have confirmed the departure of star center Herbie Farnworth, who has been traded to England’s Leeds Rhinos for the 2023 season.

Farnworth, who has been a key figure in the Broncos’ backline for the past few seasons, was a standout performer in 2022. The young Englishman, known for his blistering pace and defensive solidity, has attracted attention from Super League clubs, and it was ultimately Leeds Rhinos that secured his services for the upcoming season.

Broncos Head Coach Kevin Walters spoke of the decision with mixed emotions:
“Herbie has been an integral part of the Broncos family, and it’s never easy to part ways with a player of his caliber. But, as a club, we’re constantly looking to evolve and make the right decisions for the future. We wish Herbie all the best at Leeds, and we’re excited about the new opportunities for the Broncos moving forward.”

While the specifics of the trade deal remain undisclosed, it’s understood that the Broncos were keen to free up salary cap space for future signings and roster development. Farnworth’s move also paves the way for younger talent to step into the center position, as Brisbane looks to build for the long term.

Farnworth himself shared his gratitude for the time spent at Brisbane, thanking the fans, his teammates, and coaching staff for their unwavering support.
“I’ve had an incredible journey with the Broncos, and I’ll forever be grateful for the opportunities I’ve had here. It’s been a privilege to play alongside such talented players, and I’m excited about the new chapter ahead with Leeds Rhinos,” Farnworth said in a farewell statement.

The Broncos are now expected to focus on strengthening their squad in the wake of this high-profile departure, with many speculating that the club will target a replacement in the upcoming NRL transfer market.

As Farnworth embarks on his Super League adventure, Broncos fans will eagerly await the club’s next moves and what the future holds for their roster in the 2023 season.
