In a major boost for the reigning premiers, the Penrith Panthers have officially secured the services of breakout winger Sunia Turuva, who has signed a three-year contract extension worth approximately $1.4 million AUD.
The new deal will keep the 2023 Dally M Rookie of the Year at the foot of the mountains until the end of the 2028 NRL season, ending weeks of speculation about his future after rival clubs expressed strong interest.
“This club means everything to me,” Turuva said in a statement. “It’s home, and I’m stoked to keep building here with the boys.”
The 22-year-old had been off-contract at the end of 2025, but Penrith moved quickly to retain one of the NRL’s most promising outside backs, reportedly upgrading his salary to an average of $470,000 per season — a significant raise from his previous deal.
Club officials described the move as “crucial to maintaining Penrith’s premiership window,” with General Manager Matt Cameron stating: “Turuva is the kind of player you build around — tough, humble, and elite. We’re thrilled he’s staying.”
The Panthers are expected to turn their attention next to securing key forwards Mitch Kenny and Lindsay Smith before November 1.
