Promising young playmaker Jett Cleary has taken a major step in his rugby league journey, securing a contract upgrade as he pushes for his NRL debut.
The younger brother of Penrith Panthers star Nathan Cleary, Jett has been turning heads in the junior ranks with his composed game management and sharp football IQ. His performances in the NSW Cup and at junior representative levels have impressed Panthers coaching staff, who view him as a potential long-term option in the halves.
In recognition of his progress and potential, the club has elevated him to a top 30 development contract, positioning him just a step away from first-grade selection.
“Jett’s been working hard behind the scenes, and we’re really pleased with his development,” said a club official. “This upgrade reflects the confidence we have in his ability and his future here at Penrith.”
Cleary has been training alongside the NRL squad and could be in line for a debut as early as the back half of the 2025 season, particularly if injuries strike or opportunities arise during the Origin period.
With the Cleary name already synonymous with success at the Panthers, all eyes will be on Jett as he carves out his own path in the game.
