Coming off a conference finals run in 2025, the New York Knicks managed to nab one of the most interesting names on the free agent market this summer. The new addition is already getting himself acclimated with the city, as he was spotted with one of the area’s top basketball stars.
Following an impressive return to the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers last season, Guerschon Yabusele was expected to have a big market in free agency. Despite multiple contenders vying for his services, he opted to sign a two-year deal with the Knicks worth $11.2 million.
Yabusele was a standout performer for France in the Summer Olympics, and it resulted in him landing an NBA deal. He made the most of his time with the Sixers, proving to the league how much his game has grown since his early days with the Boston Celtics.
With his free agency decision behind him now, Yabusele can enjoy some downtime in the offseason before ramping up for the 2026 campaign. He was recently spotted taking in some international soccer play with Breanna Stewart of the New York Liberty.
Stewart is currently in the midst of her 10th year in the WNBA and her third season as a member of the Liberty. After helping deliver the franchise a championship last season, she is now attempting to lead New York to back-to-back titles. This season, the two-time MVP is averaging 19.6 PPG, 6.5 RPG, and 3.7 APG.
As for Yabusele, he is hoping to provide similar results upon his arrival in New York. With his strong two-way play and versatility in the frontcourt, he has the potential to be an X-factor for the Knicks. With bolstered depth around their core, New York has more than enough talent to be a legitimate contender next season.
