Australian forward Ryan Matterson has signed a blockbuster $900,000 AUD deal with Hull Kingston Rovers RLFC, confirming his move to the Betfred Super League at the conclusion of the 2025 NRL season.
The 29-year-old, currently contracted to the Parramatta Eels, will make the switch to East Hull in 2026, marking one of the most high-profile transfers in recent Super League memory.
> “We’re thrilled to welcome Ryan to the Robins,” a Hull KR club official said. “His experience, leadership, and versatility will be a massive asset as we continue building a championship-contending squad.”
Matterson, who has played over 150 NRL games and represented New South Wales at State of Origin level, is known for his strong ball-running, elite offloading skills, and defensive work rate. The multi-year deal will reportedly make him one of the highest-paid players in the Super League.
This signing is a major statement of intent from Hull KR, who continue to attract top-tier talent from the NRL in pursuit of Super League glory.
Matterson is expected to join pre-season training in late 2025 following the completion of his NRL commitments.
