Duke coach leaves to join NBA coaching staff
The Duke Blue Devils are going to have to fill a spot on Jon Scheyer’s coaching staff.
The Los Angeles Lakers have hired former Duke player and staffer Justin Robinson as a Player Development coach. He is joining former Duke player and current Lakers head coach JJ Reddick, who is entering his second season leading the team.

Robinson joined Duke’s coaching staff in November of 2023 as the director of player development. He played at Duke from 2016-20, appearing in 55 games. He was part of two ACC Championships in 2017 and 2019 and was a team captain during the 2019-20 season.
He had a brief professional career before getting into coaching. Robinson played with KK Mornar Bar (Montenegro) of the Adriatic First League Division (ABA) in 2020 and played with Elitzur Maccabi Netanya of the Israeli National League from 2021-23, averaging 13.9 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.1 blocked shots per contest during the 2022-23 season.
