“It was all disgusting” — Jalen Williams tries alcohol for the first time after Oklahoma City Thunder’s 2025 NBA championship

The Oklahoma City Thunder, with an average age of 25.6, clinched their first NBA title since relocating, showcasing youthful exuberance.

Jalen Williams and Jaylin Williams’ viral, awkward first beer reactions highlighted the team’s inexperience and authenticity. Jalen Williams’ stellar performance, including a 40-point game, underscored the Thunder’s blend of talent and determination, solidifying their championship victory.

Jalen Williams and Jaylin Williams share awkward first-sip moments in a young, tempered Thunder dynasty

The Oklahoma City Thunder, averaging just 25.6 years in age, made history as the second-youngest team to win an NBA title, right after the 1977 Portland Trail Blazers. Their youth was on full display during the celebration: more shy chuckles and clumsy beer sips than wild champagne showers.

Jalen’s teammate, Jaylin Williams, also experienced beer for the first time—and his reaction was so over-the-top it went viral.
It wasn’t a scripted Hollywood scene—it was authentic, genuine, and a true sign of fresh talent learning how to celebrate their biggest achievement. The celebration came after a Game 7 performance that confirmed the Thunder’s superiority. Jalen Williams contributed 20 points, four rebounds, and four assists in the championship-deciding 103–91 win, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander shone with 29 points and 12 assists.

Oklahoma City’s defense—led by Gilgeous-Alexander, Williams, Chet Holmgren, and Cason Wallace—overpowered Indiana, especially after Tyrese Haliburton had to leave early with an Achilles injury. That defensive intensity and youthful depth was exactly what head coach Mark Daigneault had been emphasizing throughout the season.

The Thunder weren’t just a one-hit wonder—they crushed the regular season with a record of 68–14, and they outscored their opponents by a franchise-high of 1,243 points over 105 games. In one of the most thrilling playoff moments, Jalen went off in Game 5, scoring a Finals career-best 40 points in a 120–109 victory, making him the third-youngest player to ever score 40 in a Finals game. He then followed that up with three straight games of 25 points or more before hitting 25—a feat only accomplished by Shaquille O’Neal since 1995.

Even with all the attention on him, Jalen’s anxiety about his first drink really resonated with fans. In his postgame press conference, he reminisced about that surreal experience—”it still doesn’t feel real”—before casually revealing, “I just had my first drink. I’m working on that”. For a first-timer who encountered wrist challenges in Game 6 but managed to recover impressively, the honest result showed he’s still human—and identified as a “young NBA star” placed in a champion’s environment.
Jalen Williams and the Thunder’s celebration reminded me of a college graduation bash: chaotic, a bit rough around the edges, but full of realness. They showed up, they took charge, and in their uniquely clumsy yet charming style, they demonstrated that winning championships isn’t solely about numbers or awards—it’s about development, determination, and occasionally a nasty first drink.
