BREAKING: Nathan Cleary Set for Shock $4.2 Million Move to Brisbane Broncos in Blockbuster 3-Year Deal

In a bombshell that’s set to send shockwaves through the NRL, Penrith Panthers captain Nathan Cleary is reportedly on the verge of a sensational switch to the Brisbane Broncos on a staggering 3-year deal worth $4.2 million.

The proposed deal would see Cleary earn approximately $1.4 million per season, making him one of the highest-paid players in rugby league history. In return, Brisbane’s star fullback Reece Walsh is tipped to head south to Penrith in a straight player swap that is already being described as one of the biggest trades of the decade.

Multiple sources have confirmed that both clubs have been in quiet negotiations, with the trade gaining serious traction in recent weeks. While still unconfirmed officially, insiders say Cleary is “seriously considering” the move, drawn by a fresh challenge and the opportunity to be based closer to his partner, Matildas forward Mary Fowler.

Cleary’s potential departure would signal the end of an era at Penrith, where he has been instrumental in guiding the team to three consecutive premierships and establishing one of the most dominant dynasties of the modern era. The Panthers, however, may see this as a necessary move amid mounting salary cap pressure following the confirmed departure of Jarome Luai and uncertainty over the futures of players like Sunia Turuva and Scott Sorensen.

On the other side, the Broncos are eager to add Cleary’s leadership, game control, and experience to a talented but inconsistent squad. “Nathan is the best halfback in the game—bringing him here would elevate our club to another level,” a Broncos insider said.

Fans of both clubs have reacted with a mix of shock, excitement, and skepticism. Whether or not the deal goes through, one thing is certain: this could be the most talked-about trade in recent NRL history.

More details to follow as negotiations progress.
