From the Edge of Retirement to NSW Camp: Thomas Jenkins’ Remarkable Redemption as Extra Training Body for Blues

In a heartening twist of fate, Thomas Jenkins has made a stunning return to the spotlight, being brought into the New South Wales (NSW) camp as an extra training body for their upcoming preparations.

Just 12 months ago, Jenkins’ career seemed to be at a crossroads, with many wondering if the 28-year-old would ever feature in a professional rugby league setup again. However, after a string of outstanding performances and an unwavering commitment to his craft, the hard-working forward has now earned a place among the state’s elite.

NSW coaches have been impressed with Jenkins’ work ethic and leadership in training, seeing him as a valuable addition to their high-intensity sessions in the lead-up to their next series. Though Jenkins won’t be suiting up in a match-day jersey just yet, his inclusion marks a powerful symbol of resilience and perseverance.

“It’s been a tough road back,” Jenkins said, visibly moved by the opportunity. “There were times when I thought it was all over, but I never lost sight of what I wanted to achieve. To be a part of this squad, even in this role, means the world to me.”

His journey back to professional rugby league has been nothing short of remarkable. Once on the brink of retirement due to injuries and inconsistent form, Jenkins has defied the odds with his determination and fitness levels, catching the eye of selectors.

The Blues’ coaching staff sees great value in having Jenkins, even in a training capacity, as they aim to sharpen their squad ahead of their next big campaign. His strength and experience bring a competitive edge to their preparation, with players and staff alike praising his contribution in scrimmage drills and fitness sessions.

For Jenkins, this inclusion is more than just a reward—it’s a validation of his unwavering belief in himself, proving that with enough grit and dedication, it’s never too late for a second chance.
