BREAKING: Luai Confirms Move to Tigers Before 2026 Season, Citing the Opportunity to Provide for His Family and Create Something for Himself

In a major shake-up to the NRL landscape, Penrith Panthers star Jarome Luai has officially confirmed his move to the Wests Tigers, with the switch set to take place ahead of the 2026 season.

Luai, a three-time premiership-winning playmaker and one of the game’s most charismatic figures, has signed a five-year deal reportedly worth $6 million with the Tigers. His decision marks one of the most high-profile player transfers in recent years and signals a fresh chapter for both the player and the struggling club looking to rebuild.

In a heartfelt statement, Luai said,

> “This was the hardest decision of my career. But at the end of the day, this is about securing my family’s future and stepping into a new challenge where I can create something for myself.”

The 27-year-old will finish the 2025 season with the Panthers before joining Benji Marshall’s Tigers outfit, where he is expected to take on a central leadership role both on and off the field.

Wests Tigers coach Benji Marshall welcomed the signing, saying Luai’s experience and flair would be “transformative” for the team.

Luai’s departure will leave a significant void at Penrith, who are already dealing with several other key exits, including James Fisher-Harris and Sunia Turuva.

The Panthers have wished Luai well and acknowledged his immense contribution to the club, saying in a statement:

> “Jarome will forever be a Panther. He’s been instrumental in our success, and we support his decision to pursue new opportunities.”

The countdown now begins for Luai’s final season in Penrith colors, with fans sure to give him a hero’s farewell before he dons the black and orange of the Wests Tigers in 2026.
