Payne Haas Has Effectively Put Himself in the Shop Window to All NRL Rivals

In a development that’s sent shockwaves across the NRL landscape, powerhouse prop Payne Haas has effectively put himself in the shop window, alerting rival clubs that he may be available — and the Broncos are officially on high alert.

Haas, widely regarded as one of the premier forwards in the game, is yet to commit long-term to the Broncos beyond the end of his current deal. With negotiations stalling and the open market looming, several clubs are now circling, prepared to break the bank for a player of his calibre.

According to sources close to the club, Brisbane has entered “damage control” mode, scrambling behind the scenes to put together a package lucrative enough to keep the 24-year-old superstar in maroon and gold.

“This is a critical moment for the Broncos,” one insider told NRL Now. “Losing Haas would be a huge blow — not just on the field, but culturally. He’s the cornerstone of their forward pack.”

The timing couldn’t be worse for Brisbane, who are currently contending with form fluctuations and increased pressure to deliver a premiership after years of rebuilding. Haas’s potential exit threatens to derail that progress.

Rival clubs — including the Roosters, Bulldogs, and even the Dolphins — are reportedly monitoring the situation closely, with several already preparing formal offers should Haas choose to test the open market on November 1.

While the Broncos remain hopeful of securing a long-term extension, the silence from Haas’s camp has only fueled speculation. His management has declined to comment.

With the finals fast approaching, the looming contract saga is set to dominate headlines — and could spark one of the most high-profile bidding wars in recent NRL history.
