Will Caitlin Clark miss entire season due to her injury? Here’s what Indiana Fever Star revealed

Head coach Stephanie White noted that Clark has been limited in practice sessions this week as a precaution.

Indiana Fever star rookie Caitlin Clark has offered more insight into the injury that kept her sidelined during the team’s preseason opener earlier this month.

Will Caitlin Clark miss entire season due to her injury? Here's what Indiana Fever Star revealed

Speaking with IndyStar and The Athletic ahead of the Fever’s preseason matchup against the Atlanta Dream, Clark revealed she’s been recovering from a left quad issue that flared up during training camp. Though the exact moment of the injury remains unclear, Clark believes it could be due to “overuse.”

“Probably just a little too much basketball,” Clark said after Friday’s practice. “I love being in the gym, but I think understanding when to be in the gym and when to recover, things like that — I think it’s just finding a balance and obviously getting back in the swing of things. It was nothing major or anything like that.”

Managing Minutes: Fever Prioritize Long-Term Health

The tightness in Clark’s quad caused her to miss Indiana’s May 3 preseason game against the Washington Mystics, although she returned the very next day to face the Brazilian National Team at her alma mater in Iowa City.

Head coach Stephanie White noted that Clark has been limited in practice sessions this week as a precaution, emphasizing that there’s no need to rush her back to full intensity before the regular season begins on May 17.

Despite the caution, Clark confirmed she’s been able to participate fully in any drills she’s included in.

“When I’m in practice, I’m full go,” she explained. “I’m not limited in any regard in the drills I’m in. The past few days I’ve been pretty active, but there’s no reason to really overdo anything right now.“

Game Status: Clark Set to Play vs. Dream

Clark will be available for Indiana’s final preseason contest on Saturday afternoon against the Atlanta Dream at Gateway Center Arena. The game tips off at 3 p.m. ET and will stream on NBA League Pass, currently available for free preview.

The Fever will be without forward Damiris Dantas, who continues to recover from a lower left leg injury. Dantas has also missed portions of training camp due to a recent family loss and did not appear in Indiana’s previous two preseason outings.

Full Indiana Fever Roster (as of May 10, 2025)
