Crystal Palace vs Brighton final injury update as 10 ruled out and 1 doubt

A look at the final injury news surrounding Crystal Palace and Brighton as the two rivals prepare to face off in the Premier League.

The latest instalment of the M23 derby kicks off on Saturday when Crystal Palace host Brighton at Selhurst Park. Seven points currently separate the two sides, with Brighton currently better off having also played a game more.

Palace will have real hope of closing that gap if they can win this one, keeping in mind they also have that game in hand to play. Here we round up all the latest injury news surrounding Palace and Brighton ahead of the derby, with both managers haven spoken in their respective pre-match press conferences.

Igor Julio – Out

Igor Julio is out for the season with a hamstring issue. Huzeler said at the time: “Igor Julio is out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury that needed surgery. It’s a really big thing.”

Georginio Rutter – Out

Rutter may be out for the season with an ankle injury. Hurzeler said: “So, both injuries, I can say they don’t look great… It’s possible [they will miss the rest of the season]. Georginio and Adam [Webster] were in great shape, but that’s football; we have to deal with it.”

Adam Webster – Out

The same applies to Webster, who could be out for the season with a hamstring injury.

Tariq Lamptey – Out

Lamptey is going to be out until May. Hurzeler has said: “Tariq will be out for a longer time.”

Jason Steele – Out

Steele is out until May, with Hurzeler saying: “Four or five weeks.”

James Milner – Out

Milner is out until early May. Hurzeler said in February: “He’s a special character who has a special work ethic and mindset, so we will see whether he will be back on the pitch [this season]. At the moment, he’s doing very well in rehab and training very well.”

Ferdi Kadioglu – Out

Kadioglu has an ankle injury that will keep him out until late April. Hurzeler said: “I see a small light at the end of the tunnel… He is working hard to be back as quickly as possible, and there are still a lot of games to go. So, I’m quite convinced that he will be back in the next weeks and hopefully help us at the end of the season.”

Joel Veltman – Out

Hurzeler confirmed in his pre-match press conference for this game: “Joel won’t be in the squad. But besides that, it will be the same, like the last game.”

Chadi Riad – Out

Riad is out for the season with a knee injury. Glasner said at the time: “Chadi has ruptured his ACL, so we have lost [him] for the rest of the season and even longer. There was no impact, and Chadi as well, it was just a normal situation in training ‘ so it’s really frustrating.”

Cheick Doucoure – Out

Doucoure is also out for the season with a knee injury of his own.

Chris Richards – Doubt

Glasner said before the Southampton game: “He is struggling a bit with his calf. It doesn’t look very serious, so we expect him against Brighton at the weekend. But tomorrow is a little bit early.” Richards should have a chance of returning for this one.
